Trades on Bicycles is an exhibition of period bicycles used for carrying on trades and commercial activities, and at the same time is a cross-section of Italian history from the twenties to the sixties which also incorporates social and educational significance.
The exhibition in all its veracity demonstrates the effort by the populace and their hard work involved in resolving daily problems and restarting a normal life, all with the sweat off their backs in order to live a dignified exsistence in the difficult times following the first and second World Wars. It is an admonition to those that want everything and want it quickly, with the maximum of ease, tryng to avoid every effort and sacrifice in their achievements. The bicycles come from all over Italy from the North to the South attesting to the general willingness to find serious and dignified solutions to everyday needs.. Mr. Pellegrini is a fervent collector with collections ranging from epoch automobiles, to berets, to oil tin canisters and more.We know that Mr. Pellegrini's passion for the bycicle collection stems from his early adolescent yars when he carried on the family trade by collecting leather skins in outfitted with front and rear baskets. The exhibition therefore takes on a feel of reality due to the fact that it has been collated and realized by someone whom actually partecipated in its essence. The collection pieces are all originals. The exact year of construction of the bicycles has not been established due to the fact that they underwent constant modifications by their owners. All the pieces however fall within the period from the 1920's to the beginning of the 1960's. On the other hand though the regions of their origins are certain. The collection is the property of Luciano Pellegrini. The collection exemplares come from all the regions in Italy. The pieces on exhibit are 62 but Mr. Pellegrini's search still continues...
